EVERYthing you need to know to enter the dmc open Scandinavia 2025

The DMC Open Scandinavia is DMC Denmarks first open-format mixing DJ competition. Can you win the crowd? Is your music library deep enough?
The first DMC Open Scandinavia champions must showcase a solid mixture of genres, eras, and tempos.

From the qualifying -3-minute online sets, the judges will select the top-3 finalists from each country.

From there the top-3 national finalists will perform a 12-minute solo set, and the winner from each country will receive the title of 2025 DMC Open Scandinavia (country) Champion and will advance to the 2025 DMC World Finals in Tokyo, Japan.

There will also be a title to the best of all DJs that will be crowned “DMC Open Scandinavia Champion”

DMC Denmark will cover the travel costs of the 3 2025 DMC Open Scandinavia Champions travel costs to the world finals in Tokyo, Japan!

 

Important information: 

 

Elimination Qualifier Round (3 min)

  • June 1: Online video Submission starts – you have 7 days to upload your 3-minute set
  • June 10 – 13: Judging period
  • June 15: Top 3 finalista from each country is announced

 

How to record your submission

  • Each DJ must register via (TBA!) and submit a 3 min video by the deadline.
  • The video recording must have a 16:9 format, at least full HD resolution (1920×1080 px) and clear sound recorded directly from the mixer.
  • Do not include logos, nicknames, etc. in the recording and we do not change the frame. It must be one uninterrupted shot from one perspective that shows the entire person and equipment, not just the hands.
  • Cuts, frame changes, animations, and similar video editing are not allowed.
  • The recording must not contain visually indecent content [nudity, pornography, etc.]
  • The recording cannot exceed the set time by more than 4 seconds.
  • Entries that do not meet the technical requirements of the recording will be automatically disqualified – regardless of the level of the performance presented in them.

 

FINAL (12 min)

  • September 13: DMC Open Scandinavia Finals in Copenhagen, Denmark 

 

Scandinavian Final rules:

  • Each finalist performs a 12-minute solo LIVE music mix.
  • To select the 2025 DMC Open Scandinavia Champions, the judges evaluate aspects such as: musical selection, composition, originality, musical and technical correctness, stage presence and overall impression

 

General rules:

  • The 2024 DMC Open Scandinavia Open Champions will advance to the DMC World Finals in Tokyo, Japan.
  • Participation in the competition is open to all DJs from Sweden, Norway and Denmark, who hold a residential permit for the represented country
  • There are no age restrictions for the DMC Open. Minors must have written consent from their parent/legal guardian to participate in the competition, and in the case of participating in the live final – be under his/her care. Legal guardian/parents is not covered with travel costs to the world finals in Tokyo, Japan.
  • Competitors do not pay participation fees – it’s completely free. Finalists pay for their own travel costs to enter the Finals in Copenhagen.
  • DJs must be nationals of their country to enter a live national competition. If not, you will be required to enter the online Rest of The World category at dmcdjchamps.com
  • DMC World and DMC Denmark reserves the right to modify the competition rules to ensure credibility and honesty.

 

Equipment:

  • This is an open format category.
  • The standard rules allow 2 turntables/CDJs, 1 mixer, and a maximum of 2 MIDI devices. Controllers and tablets instead of players and a mixer are also allowed. 2 Technics SL-1210 MK7 and 2 Pioneer CDJ-3000 players will be available at the DMC Open Scandinavia finals in Copenhagen. If you use other equipment, you MUST bring this to the finals at your own risk/cost.
